No doubt, we are overwhelmed by news in these times. I’m listening to Ian McEwan’s book, What We Can Know, and its futuristic look back at both information sharing and truth in contemporary time is disturbing and thought provoking. Many of my friends and supporters are pulling out of social media altogether, which I understand.
And yet, those of us authors not supported by bigger interests find it difficult to share information about our work. I remind myself, over and over, how I write for me. And yet, I too believe I’ve created solid books that I know others have enjoyed, and I’d love new folks to find them. Thus, the dilemma. I’ve resolved that the best control I have is continuing to share – both what I know and what I offer – via this website and blog. My ask to you? Subscribe if you haven’t already, to get any new posts in your email rather than once in awhile see it somewhere else. If you enjoyed any of my books – share them with others in whatever way feels comfortable. And – ugh I hate asking this – write an honest review for any of my books you’ve read if you haven’t already.
Okay. Whew. That part is over. Now for the fun updates.
First, I have created a short book Discussion Guide for A Map of Her Own.
Some of you may have previously downloaded my book group questions. This more “visually appealing” guide allows you to get a quick sense of key themes of the book and some questions to ponder, whether you are in a book group or not. As I’ve said before, I love joining book groups for discussion and continue to be available for those addressing all of my books. The guide is also available at the link above.
Second, I have a number of events coming up! I will have copies of my books at most of them and would love to see you! See my Event Page for more details.

And with that, I send you compassion, kindness and a reminder to be good to yourself.

It’s good to see the snow up at Timberline! I assumed it was a different year, so the caption clarifying that it is current, makes me feel better. I just came here from a different blog where a friend is dismayed to learn that web crawlers have attacked his blog and are combing it for AI information. His views went from 100 a day to 10,000 a day and his statistics are now entirely worthless. It’s impossible to know the best way to get word out about your books, but in my opinion you are doing the right thing, and just keeping at it. I love how much you actively market your work. It is impressive, and must take a lot of energy.

Thanks for the feedback! That is awful about your friend’s blog. We should talk offline sometime about prevention tactics! Thinking of you.
